Innova Beast Disc Review

Innova Beast Disc Review

It’s one of the bestselling and most popular discs ever created—and for good reason. Since it was released on the market, the Innova Beast has been a favorite among many beginners and a go-to for many professional players including the great Barry Schultz and Eric Friedman.

This medium-speed distance driver with a 10 rating for speed, 5 for glide, -2 for a turn, and 2 for a fade. But more than its scores, the Beast has been proven to offer consistent results, whether you’re just starting out at disc golf or competing against the toughest players in the world.

For newer players:

The Innova Beast is known to offer a huge amount of glide with the proper throwing technique. Its design with a comfortable grip and wide rim also provide the edge as a beginner since it can give you maximum distance even if you’re still new to disc golf. Right out of the box the beast can be over stable for slower arm speed players. Just keep that in mind if you are looking for something more flippy.

If you look closely at the edge of the Beast, you’ll see that it’s designed to cut through strong winds, which is why it can reach far even if you’re a strong thrower yet.

For experienced players:

Although many discs have been released over the years, it’s not surprising that most professional players still choose the Innova Beast as part of their disc bag because it’s very versatile, reliable, and efficient enough in making shots where they count the most.

If you’re a professional player, you’ll enjoy the Beast for its flexibility where you can experiment with different shots to get the result that you want. Whatever style of throw you prefer, the Beast is guaranteed to deliver on all fronts.

Best used for:

The Innova Beast is best used for distance shots made by beginners because it can offer pretty good distance even if you don’t have arm power yet. It’s also easy to fly and can create a nice  S-shaped flight pattern ending in a good landing.

This disc is especially recommended as a stable distance driver for intermediate and professional players that need speed and consistency with their shots.

Types of plastics:

The Beast comes in

Star. This is as durable as the Champion plastic line by Innova, but it offers a better grip, which is good if you’re a beginner.

GStar. More flexible than Star plastic, this type of plastic is best used for playing in windy or cold weather conditions.

Champion. The highest quality plastic among all Innova discs, this is the best one in the Beast line because of its efficiency, durability, and quality.

Pro. More durable than DX but it takes some time to get used to its grip.

  1. This is the cheapest plastic for the Beast and also the heaviest.

Final thoughts:

The Innova Beast is truly a beast in disc golf, which is why it’s not surprising that many players invest in this disc more than other discs available.

So, if you want one for yourself, choose the best plastic and make sure that you buy the best one for your style of play. Check out more reviews on the Innova Beast here.
