Innova Tern Disc Review
With so many disc golf discs released in the market, the Innova Tern has gained its spot in this niche sport since it was first released in 2012.
Like its name, Tern has a natural turn and is designed for long shot throws. There are many great things disc golf players love about the Innova Tern. Personally, I love that the disc is comfortable when I am doing both forehand and backhand throws.
The Star Tern Innova Tern loves powerful arms but is also forgiving of those with slow arm power. This is because as mentioned, the disc has a natural turn. When thrown by a weaker arm, the disc can fly at a little distance.
Today, I will cover some of the things that you need to know about Innova Tern, particularly the Star line. Know about Star Tern’s flight ratings, what it is best used for, and if it is fitting for beginners or advanced players.

For Newbies
This disc can still be thrown by beginners. However, newer players will need a lot of practice to prevent the disc from turning over because the Tern will surely turn over once in a while because it is less stable. Novice players may need a lot of effort when throwing the Tern to achieve considerable distance.
With its 12 speed rating, the Tern is most suitable for powerful or stronger arms to complete the disc’s entire flight. So, if you are just starting in disc golf, the Tern may not be the best disc for you.
For Advance Players
The Tern is one of my go-to distance drivers, the disc is understable so you can get the maximum distance needed but it is also fairly stable enough to hold any line you want to put it on.
As mentioned, this disc golf disc is not highly recommended for newer players as it requires power or a very hard throw for the disc to perform like what Innova designed the disc for. It does exactly what the stat suggests when doing a very hard throw.
Best Used For:
The Innova Star Tern is best thrown for glide, roller, and flex. The disc is reliable when you need a long glide to keep going on the freeway without too much power. The disc also performs well when you need to cover a distance while rolling on the ground. This overstable disc is also perfect when throwing those flex shots, to add more distance to your regular drive.
Conclusion
I like that there is nothing much going on in the design as I always like the disc clean and simple. Star plastic feels nice on my hand, it is flexible but not floppy. The Star plastic gives that secure and comfortable feel. On hotter days, it gets a little softer.
It is fast enough to fly far, a disc that can get you a good distance. It does not fade too much when it slows down. For more experienced disc golfers, the Star Tern Innova is controllable. For more reviews on the turn check here.
